Shiqi Wang is a PhD student in History at Stony Brook University who primarily focuses on environmental health and social history of the US and Japan in the twentieth century. She is also in the Advanced Graduate GSS Certificate program at Stony Brook and specializes in geospatial narratives. She explores interdisciplinary research to contribute to both the public and academic communities. Before coming to Stony Brook, she worked as faculty at J. F. Oberlin University in Tokyo, Japan. Her first PhD in environmental sociology, completed at Meiji University, Japan, focused on environmental justice and residents’ awareness of chemical pollution and environmental risk in the US South, West Japan, and Taiwan. In this second PhD program, she continues studying local experiences and community actions of environmental and climate justice.
